Pics From A Few Years Back

My deadline to post an update on this site was supposed to be this weekend, but I know you'll understand when you hear what I've been up to.
I've been helping my sisters, Chrystal (Cave-Momma's Quest) & Jodi (Feral Child) with their side food businesses. They've been keeping me really busy actually. Since I came on board & added the handy dandy online Order Form, their business has just sky-rocketed. I'm very proud of them & glad I could be of assistance. In addition to that, I've been managing their incoming orders & keeping up with inventory, billing, & blogging. Phew.

*You can click the words "Order Form" & "blogging" above to be directed to either the online order form or Cave-Momma's Quest's Blog. :)  *

So I'm treating myself to a little break right now at the local coffee shop I mentioned on my last post. I've remembered my headphones tonight, so I can listen to my own Pandora stations instead of their choice of "music". I really do love that this place is open 24 hours & that their coffee is amazing. One of the guys made the wrong drink for me, so I got to drink the mess-up & now I'm working on the drink I ordered in the first place. I.am.not.complaining. :)

Since there were several years that I took a break from this blog, there are some photos to share with you now.

Over the last few years, my friends Lourdes & Michael got married & had a little boy.
I was one of the bridesmaids so I didn't photograph the wedding, but I did get a chance to take their Engagement Photos...with the assistance of one of my best friends, Jamie (one of the maids of honor). This was the year before I moved to Austin & I was living in Houston at the time, so Jamie & I drove to Austin to photograph this adorable couple!
Here are a few highlights from that session.
(The pic above was my personal fave from the shoot.
We used it for their "Save-The-Date" cards.)
(We weren't in a rush. We started early in the morning & took pics until that evening.)
(I like the lens flare on this one & the colors it made...all of which was natural.
This shot was on the side of the Capital of Texas Hwy/360 Bridge.)
(We hung out up on the hill for quite a while. This is a brief moment where no cars were around.)

I had a wonderful time photographing them & I've had a wonderful time scouting spots to shoot in Austin, Tx with my friend, Samuel.

I'm still working on scheduling some future shoots & will post more when there is more to post about! Until then, keep checking back here weekly & let me know if you have something coming up that you need photographed!
Or let me know if you've got photo albums/negatives/etc. that you need backed up!
I'm an expert at archiving photos, these days!
(& I bet you can't find someone to do this service & not charge you an arm/leg.)

Love Always,
Jessi

Street Portraits & a Surprise Proposal

Good evening, Ladies and Gents!
I'm currently sitting at a local coffee shop which is usually pretty peaceful...packed but peaceful. Tonight, however, the music selection is broadway hits, Disney songs and Christmas music and it's pretty distracting and random. Some would disagree, I'm sure...like the girls running this joint, but it would be nice if they just lowered the volume by a couple dozen decibels. Wup now it's "I wanna be where the people are" by Ariel in the Little Mermaid. Ok, I recant, that's a good one. Haha.

Ok, so, let's change the subject and show you some pictures I've taken recently.

A couple of months back, a dear friend of mine, Ericka (whom I met while working at Opal Divine's-Davenport), approached me with the idea of taking some pictures of her and her Aunt Cathy. Like they used to back when she was a little girl. Of course I was on board with that idea and we decided to hit up one of our favorite places in Austin: South Congress. Here are a couple of the highlights from that shoot:

I had a lot of fun with these two lovely ladies and best of all, I was taking street photos again...MY FAAAAVE!
Let me know if you're interested in taking part in a photo series like this.

Then right before Christmas, my friend, Paul, approached me about photographing him surprise his girlfriend. He lead her out to a field on her parents' property and proposed to her.
It was really sweet. Here are the top shots:

I've never been asked to photograph a proposal before and I was super nervous.
But I'm glad that I did it, I'm very happy for these two wonderful people and I'm happy to follow them through this next chapter of their lives...with my camera. :) (stay tuned for the upcoming engagement portrait session)

Well other than all of that I'm currently scheduling photo sessions, working on "Save The Date" cards for Paul & Jeannie and interviewing with photographers we might want to work with.
(So let me know if you're interested in scheduling a photo session or if you might want to work with us! email me: JessiHebert@gmail.com )

OH & I've been helping out my sisters with their side businesses: Cave-Momma's Quest & Feral Child.

Alright guys, I didn't make my Sunday blogging deadline but I haven't been to bed yet so I'm still counting it as Sunday! And since I just chugged a double shot of espresso I won't be going to sleep anytime soon, either. :P

I hope you like what you've seen here today & I hope you'll consider me when you need a photographer in the future.

See you back here next week!!!!
Riiiiight??!!! :)

Much love!

New Year = NO MORE SLACKING!!!

2015 is right around the corner & I want to tell you what my goals/resolutions are.
It has been a ridiculous amount of time since I have last posted on this blog & it was just last night (when I was helping my older sister update hers) when I realized "holy shit, I haven't updated mine in YEARS!"
So, resolutions:
#1: to be a better blogger. It's free advertising & there is ABSOLUTELY no excuse.

#2: Get the ball rolling on my PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO!
You heard right, my friend (& fellow Hallmark Institute of Photography graduate/classmate), Sam, & I are getting prepared to take over AUSTIN, TX by storm! We've already started the groundwork on all of this and I am very impressed with Sam's skill level.
I don't know a single photographer that is a "Jack-of-All-Trades" type of photographer & that can photograph EVERYTHING, so teaming up is extremely critical. Sam & I, together, can cover JUUUUUUUST about anything you could throw our way! So bring it on!
* Right now we are building our team of photographers in Austin, Tx.
If you or someone you know is interested in working with us, we are currently accepting applications & interviewing photographers/photo-retouchers/cinematographers/etc. You can email your application to me at JessiHebert@gmail.com . It is a collaborative effort & I'll be more than happy to tell you more about it, if you just ask.

#3: Help my friends & family visualize & accomplish their dreams.
I'm so proud of both of my sisters & their accomplishments within the last few years.
My twin sister, Jodi (feral child), moved home in July 2014 to help take care of my sick/dying momma. She decided, at that point, to team up with my older sister, Chrystal (Cave-Momma's Quest), to bring GOOD REAL FOOD to the S.E. Texas Region.
The response has been incredible & I've been helping them stay organized & get with the digital times. Last night, I helped them create an order form to make ordering through them MUCH SIMPLER. In addition to that, I will be their new office assistant. Thanks to technology, I can help them even though I'm miles away, in Austin.

That's all as far as my resolutions go (aside from quitting smoking cigarettes). I'm just going to take one day at a time & try my ultimate best to be a productive member of society & to make these businesses succeed any way I can. I think my momma would be proud of that. And I would do anything for that lady. R.I.P. lovely angel Nana.

SEE YA'LL NEXT SUNDAY (my goal is to post once a week).
Love always,
Jessi

It's been 1 yr. 3 mo. & 23 days...

But seriously, who's counting?
Yes, it certainly has been FOREVER since I've posted on this blog.
There'll be no more broken promises of "I'll post again, tomorrow". That I can assure you. Promising that I'll have something interesting to say tomorrow is somewhat ridiculous, don't you think?

Last night I was watching a documentary on Andy Goldsworthy, "Rivers and Tides", and I was quite impressed not only with the skill and creativity involved in his work, but primarily with his tenacity.
I'd like to have his level of patience.
I also really liked hearing his take on the importance of photography when it comes to demonstrating his artistic techniques and how photography speaks about his work in ways he is incapable of doing.

Now I understand why Jodi was inspired last summer on the beach at Toledo Bend. :)

In addition to Rivers and Tides here are some other movies I've enjoyed lately:

Until next time, thanks for viewing!!

Working my tail off.

Happy Saturday!
Be it that I work all day Mon. - Fri. (including retouching at night). I have to make sure and take full advantage of my weekends. Laundry, cleaning, bank runs (not the illegal kind), and of course spending time with people I miss during the week.
This job through Image One Studios is forcing me to be a little more responsible and organized.
I suppose I had to grow up one day. Lol
(working in the heights this past week)
Has anyone tried the SPRINT 4G little wi-fi thing???

If so, how is it? I'm looking to get one for work and for traveling.
I REALLY don't want an IPHONE just yet. I would be addicted to it just like everyone else, I'm sure of it.

Well, I don't have a whole lot to say this week, but my goal is to keep writing blogs...no matter how insignificant they may be. lol

Currently Reading & almost done with:Me Talk Pretty One Day, by the hilarious David Sedaris

Currently watching: Saturday Night Live....i love tina fey!
Currently listening to: He Came to Meet Me, by Hem
Currently drinking: coffee...even though it's 10 at night.
Currently working on: retouching portraits from this past week

Thanks for reading, see you again soon!!!

Just Needed Something to Write About

Well, it's obvious to everyone involved that I've not written a new post in AGES!
Since my last post my to-do list has gotten out of control, I was working at Pappasito's just about every day and I just completely ignored the fact that I even owned a blog.
"Nobody reads it anyway," I'd say.
But some people actually do read it. I know Chrystal and Jodi do. I know my friend and fellow blogger Jennifer Williams does.
So, for you three... and anyone else who cares to read along, here we go on what I hope becomes a better attempt at keeping up with technology and with friends and family.

Let me start by discussing my NEW JOB! :)

As of this past Monday, I officially started working as a photographer for a portable, nation-wide studio called Image One Studios. We specialize in on-location executive portraits and from what I can tell, I'm going to be very happy with this job.
The only downsides are:
1) I have to wake up early
2) I have to wake up REAAAAALLY early....
3) I have to drive in rush hour traffic.
4) I need an accountant (which I probably could use anyway)
5) I sometimes don't have time for lunch. lol

But all those things aside, I'm working for a stable company that finds the work for me AND I'm finally doing photography full-time! Yay!

What else, what else? My family is doing well!
(family portrait on Christmas Day)
Aythen, my nephew, will be a year old in less than a month!
(Aythen & I during the Stride for Stroke 5k Walk/Run)
Chrystal, my older sister, is...well, her birthday was Monday...(not sure she'd be happy with me telling you how OLD she is). Oh, and I'm not sure if I've told you, but she's also PREGNANT for the 2nd time!! With yet another BOY!
P.S. if one more person tells her how stupid the name Vaughn is, she'll cut a bitch. lol.

Jodi is working at Goodfella's in Beaumont and finally loving her job, as well. :)

(Jodi & I at the IMAX theatre to see Alice in Wonderland)
I'm still living in Sugar Land with Maggie & Coco.
And still dating Will Ebarb. :)

Things are pretty damn good. And I hope it stays that way for a little while...

Thanks for reading and have fun this weekend!

Miss you and you and you,
Jessi

Which season is it? Flu or Fall??

So, I'm sick. It's not the flu (I hope) but it's exhausting none-the-less.
I figured since I'm not working today, I can catch up on my blog.
I've put quite a few new songs on my playlist, which I know some of you will be pleased with. I use my blog as a radio and blast it while I'm getting ready in the morning or taking a shower. I'm a fan of a huge array of music. I don't really have a FAVORITE genre or artist... I have many. And since my boyfriend, Will, set my radio in my car on a classical station, I've not changed it once. It's interesting how music has the power to change my mood. I've not exactly been a ray of sunshine lately. I feel as if I've been in a slump lately. But despite all of that, this summer was incredible and I feel obliged to fill you in now.

In August:
I attended Ryan Terry & Bethany Haugan's Wedding in Minnesota. I met Ryan & Bethany at the Hallmark Institute of Photography. Bethany was actually one of my 7 roommates and one of the greatest people I met at school. I didn't take pictures at the wedding, but one of our fellow classmates, Mary Frances Chrisman was the hired photographer and she did a GORGEOUS job!
It was the closest form of a class reunion that I've had since we graduated in June of 2008 because I also had the pleasure of staying with my dearest friend, Emily!
Another roommate of mine from Hallmark, Katelynne, stayed with Emily as well.
Emily took us to the Minnesota Mall of America and while there we went to the Aquarium that Em works at.

Katelynne looking at the sea horses.

The largest shark they have, it's name is Jesse...lol!
Also in August, one of mine and Jodi's best friends, Kara and Kara's boyfriend, Brandon, came to visit.

Okay...so, that's about it when it comes to August.
Moving on to September.
My sister and and brother in law just purchased a house in Bridge City that, at it's current state, is sort of an empty shell. The previous owners moved out after it had received quite a bit of damage from Hurricane Ike. They hope to be done with the renovations in December! :)
Also in September, I attended Kaycee & Jonathan's Wedding! Making that my 8th Wedding since May!
On September 27th, I attended my first professional football game...The Texans vs. The Jaguars!
Me and Will!
I would like to share with you, now, new pics of my nephew, Aythen!!! :)
Aythen & his Nana (my mom)
Just the cuuuuuuuutest!!! :)
Aythen and his auntie gee...(me)
Aythen & Miranda
Aythen & his auntie Jo-Jo.

Ok. well that's enough for now!! I'll try and post again within the next month!!
I'll TRRRRRY!

Currently listening to: Can't take my eyes off of you, by Lauryn Hill (on my playlist!)
Currently watching: Role Models
Last movie I saw was: All About Steve (starring Sandra Bullock...it was cute)
Currently reading: Uncontrollable Beauty

Thank you for caring!

Jessi

There's No Where To Go But Up

Ok, so instead of apologizing for neglecting this blog I'm going to make excuses. :)
So far, I have attended 4 weddings this year and will be attending another 2 before the summer lets up. This must be the summer of love, because I've NEVER in my life been to 6 weddings in 1 year!
Congrats again to Jenny and Ray, David and Aleece, Sally and Kent, and Ryan and Sandra!
Here are few pictures from Ryan and Sandra's wedding this last weekend in S.E. Texas:

So, another eventful day worth blogging about is the Fourth of July!
My boyfriend, Will, and I drove up to stay at my parents lake house at Toledo Bend.

Me & Will in the back of dad's truck.

We drove the boat out into the cove and watch fireworks in all directions... :)

I was on a boat, so obviously it wasn't completely still.

But I like the effect it gave, just the same.
